onathan grew up in a musical family. His mother had taught piano and his sister, who was 10 years older than he, had been playing for 5 years before he was born. So, it's safe to assume that Jonathan could hear the piano prior to exiting the womb. By time he was 7, he was thrust into the life of competitive piano that would last for over a decade. A few of those years were also spent dabbling in learning the saxophone. As college approached, so did the intrigue of another instrument. This one being the guitar, an instrument also played by his sister previously.

For years he had looked at the guitar from a distance, bewildered by its design. Finally, Jonathan dove in and began to learn and teach himself the classical guitar. Fighting through the early pitfalls, his love of the instrument began to seed deep within his core which led to studying classical guitar at the University of North Texas. There, he also began a rock band where he started honing his 'chops' while composing all the instrumentation, including the drums which had also become a passion. Eventually, this passion grew so strongly, that he decided to switch to playing the drums in the band, willing to endure the set back of having to bring in a new guitarist to learn all the material. The band played the club scene, off and on, for a few years and recorded a couple of projects over that time in Dallas.

In the meantime, upon college graduation, Jonathan had found interest in composing music for picture. Through his sister's connection to the industry, he found his way to the door of Juniper Music in Dallas. A company which had only a few years earlier began its commercial path in the music and sound design field, it could be argued that Juniper dominates locally and nationally today. They allowed Jonathan to really build his compositional and production abilities in a relationship that's so far lasted nearly 10 years. During this time, Jonathan has composed and produced music for television and radio advertisements, music libraries, and independent movies and documentaries. Jonathan has also composed many works for Listening Chair, another highly respected advertising music house in Dallas.

In 2001, after much encouragement from his future wife, Jonathan set out to compose his first 'instrumental' album called 'In Awe of It All.' It would be a collection of tracks that featured the instruments naturally familiar to him, along with a few tracks that would show a symbiotic relationship between the ethereal and the slow groove. It was a fun experience which pushed him to record a second album which would eventually be known to the world as 'Under the Bodhi Tree.' The album picked up where the previous had left off, and Jonathan began to incorporate subtle vocals, thematic passages, intricate percussion, and signature complex meters to the music. The album was picked up by the UK's New World Music label in 2005 and released world wide in 2006. Since then, 'Under the Bodhi Tree' has won the 2007 Independent Music Award for Best New Age Album and the 2007 New Age Album of the Year from the Coalition of Visionary Resources (COVR).

Jonathan's follow up to the award winning album is called 'The Awakening' and is released worldwide following the US release on November 13, 2007. The new album is another piece of music built on the foundation of the previous recordings, but taking many aspects to new levels. The signature piano and guitar based compositions continue, but now find themselves embedded in tracks full of energies that transport listeners through a myriad of emotional landscapes such as serenity, exultation, sadness, and relaxation. Jonathan believes 'The Awakening' to be his best piece of work to date as well as emotionally the toughest to complete.
